Should Uttar Pradesh Be Divided

Uttar Pradesh is the most populated state of India. Its population is nearly equivalent to the 5th largest country in the world Brazil . It has a population of over 204 million population. But the gdp per capita of UP is equivalent to the gdp per capita of Kenya which is one poorest country in the world(individual gdp of each person)
Since the population of UP is very high . It is very difficult for a single chief minister to govern it alone. Therefore there is a proposal of comman public that UP should be divided into 4 states.
In 2011 first time the bill of division was introduced in state legislative assembly of Uttar Pradesh by the former chief minister Mayawati. It was passed in state assembly but the ruling central government under manmohan Singh denied the proposal. Under the proposal the for new states were Bundelkhand, Awadh, purvanchal and paschim pradesh.
STATES DIVIDED IN PAST
It was not the first time in independent India that there is a discussion for the division of the states. In 1955 Bhim Rao ambedkar has also suggested for the division of Uttar Pradesh. And many new states have been formed after our independence.
In 2000 three new states were formed utttarakhand, chattisgarh and jharkhand. If we compare the performance of the new states with the old ones then we can see that the performance of new states were better than their old states.
But in some of the other parameters jharkhand has performed less than Bihar and chattisgarh and madhya Pradesh have similar performance . Only utttarakhand have shown better performance than UP in most of the parameters. So the division of UP can't be framed as the only solution for the problems in the State.
WHAT IS STOPPING THE DIVISION
The current ruling party in uttar Pradesh is BJP. Since they have very strong representation in the state and also there is no current political need for partition, the topic of division of UP is currently dormant. The division of state might create a opportunity for the opposition parties therefore BJP shall not divide UP on the need of better administration.
The other reasons which can be that the common public knew that it is not much beneficial for them
OTHER SOLUTIONS FOR BETTER ADMINISTRATION
The other option that can work in the scenario is the creation of new districts in the state. and the decentralizing the power in the state. Decentralization can be explained as giving more power to the panchayat leaders and district magistrates. It will decrease the burden of work for the chief minister.
There is a increase of 77 percent in population of UP but increase in no. Of district is only 19 percent so the creation of new districts will help in better administration and it will also not affect any political party.
