Indian navy modernisation(2021)

Indian Navy is 7th strongest Navy of the world. It was founded in 1612 by British people to protect their merchant ships from pirates back then it was known as east India company's marine . It was later renamed royal indian Navy in 1934 and after independence it come into existence . It has an glorious past  specially in 1971 when INDIAN Navy had destroyed whole Karachi port and sinked their strongest submarines pns ghazi. But India is currently challenged by china the seconds strongest Navy and  largest Navy by quantity so modernisation is currently a urgent requirement

FUTURE SHIPS UNDER THE MODERNISATION PROGRAM

AIRCRAFT CARRIER 
India is currently operating a single aircraft carrier INS VIKRAMADITYA it is 45000 ton class AIRCRAFT carrier built by Russia.
 In future India is going to gets its second aircraft carrier INS VIKRANT BY 2022 it is indigenously developed by India and the first aircraft carrier to be built in India. It is  a 40000 ton class Carrier.
India is planning for 3rd aircraft carrier by 2030 popularly know as INS VISHAL WHICH will be 65000 ton class aircraft carrier
Two helicopter carrier is also planned to be acquire
SUBMARINES
India is currently operating 16 submarines from which 2 are nuclear powered submarine. India is building kalvari class submarine in joint venture with a French company,2 of 6 is already delivered.

Under project 75(I) India is planning to acquire 6 SUBMARINES which will be built in India with a help of a foreign vendor.Russia Germany France Spain Sweden are participating in this competition.

 We are building 4 arihant class submarine which is  6000 ton nuclear powered submarine capable of carrying ballastic missiles. 1 is already delivered 1 is in sea trial and 2 are another construction . India is planning for more 3 boats  as successor of arihant class which will be of 12000 ton

We are planning for 6 nuclear attack submarine of 6000 ton in near future. India will take a nuclear submarine in lease from Russia for 10 years
DESTROYERS
India is building four visakhapatnam class destroyers of 7500 ton which is successor of Kolkata class destroyer. It will be the strongest ship of Indian Navy . It will be armed with brahmos and Barak 8 missiles . First ship of this class is going to be commisoned at 2021
FRIGATES
India is building 7 nilgiri class frigates of 6500 ton it is a successor of shivalik class frigate.
India has recently sign a deal of 4 talwar class frigates from Russia. India is already operating 6 such ships. Among 4 ships two will be build in Russia and two in India
CORVETTES
India is going to built 16 anti Submarine Corvettes of 700 ton and 6 anti surface Corvettes of 1200 ton.
OTHER AND AUXILLARY SHIPS
India is need of any ships like oil tankers offshore patrol vessels midget submarine patrol boats research vessel and many more ships
AIR WING OF INDIAN NAVY
Navy has a intention of 36 fighter jets for it's new carrier which can be f/a18 super hornet aur RAFALE. Navy has ordered for mh 60R Romeo helicopters and additional units of p8i Neptune.
